Pondok Indah Hospital Group has made history by being the first healthcare provider in Indonesia to achieve Stage 6 on the HIMSS Electronic Medical Record Adoption Model.

The eight-stage EMRAM scores hospitals from 0-7 relative to their EMR capabilities.

Pondok Indah Hospital Group operates three hospitals, all of which have received the award. They are Pondok Indah Hospital - Pondok Indah, Pondok Indah Hospital - Puri Indah, and Pondok Indah Hospital - Bintaro Jaya.

WHY IT MATTERS

With the Stage 6 award, the hospital group joins a group of organisations across the globe who are committed to operating in a near paperless environment and who use electronic patient record technology to drive transformational change in all aspects of hospital inpatient care.

During the validation, HIMSS assessors noted that while recently introduced, closed-loop administration processes were well demonstrated for blood and blood products, human milk, and medicines administration.

The hospital group was also able to provide good examples of the alerts and warnings for drug-drug interactions, drug-allergy interactions, dose range checks, duplicate drug alerts, and cumulative dose alerts.

"As a result of Pondok Indah Hospital Group's incredible efforts, they are the first in Indonesia to be officially validated at EMRAM Stage 6. This means they are clearly demonstrating an ongoing commitment to improve patient safety and the overall quality of clinical care through the effective use and deployment of EMR technology. In so doing, it is an exemplar for others in Indonesia to gain inspiration and guidance from as the country embarks on its Digital Health Transformation Strategy 2024," said Andrew Pearce, VP, Analytics & Global Advisory Lead, HIMSS.

THE LARGER TREND

Pondok Indah Hospital Group's achievement follows Aster Hospital Mankhool which was validated for EMRAM Stage 6 last month. Other hospitals which have more recently been validated under the model include Dar Al Shifa Hospital and Almoosa Specialist Hospital.

ON THE RECORD

Dr Yanwar Hadiyanto, CEO of Pondok Indah Hospital Group said: "This achievement shows our strong commitment to improve patient satisfaction through continuous improvement of service quality. We believe that one of the important factors to make this happen is through digital transformation. Stage 6 HIMSS EMRAM validation supports the digitalisation efforts that we have been doing at Pondok Indah Hospital Group.

"In the digital transformation process, we have integrated supporting services such as laboratories, pharmacy, and radiology with patient medical records, various kinds of software and hundreds of medical equipment, as well as implemented the IT security system to ensure that 95-100% of medical documentation is done and structured digitally, strengthened by clinical decision support. We believe that these efforts can significantly improve the quality of our services and patients' safety."

Simon Lin, VP & Executive Director, APAC, HIMSS said: "This impressive achievement against one of the world's most rigorous and current standards in digital health clearly outlines the potential and capacity for digital transformation in the Indonesian health system. I'm excited to continue working with the various key stakeholders in the country to progress towards the greater goal of digitising the national health system in order to improve care delivery, quality, safety and health equity."
