Mostashari's startup creates Aledade ACO in Pennsylvania
Aledade, former ONC chief and physician Farzad Mostashari’s startup, announced a new accountable care organization called Aledade Pennsylvania ACO.
The eponymous ACO comes on the heels of Aledade announcements that it helped build ACOs in West Virginia, Michigan, Missouri, Nevada, and Utah.
“We are expanding beyond Medicare and taking our commitment to better care, better health and smarter spending to new patient populations,” Mostashari said in a statement.

The company, which takes its name from the instrument navigators point to the North Star to keep on course, has also partnered with Blue Cross Blue Shield of Louisiana to provide care to its members and also with 10 Federal Qualified Health Centers in West Virginia to provide care to low-income patients.
Aledade said that in 2015 the ACOs it helped to build reduced hospital readmissions, experienced a 251 percent average practice increase in preventive care visits and a 175 percent spike in transitional care services, and saw a $51,000 average increase in revenue.
The company, which is entering it’s third year of operation, partners with more than 110 practices across 11 states to deliver care to more than 100,000 patients.
“These new partnerships signal that our value based care model works,” Mostashari said. “We believe independent primary care doctors are the foundation of an effective and efficient healthcare system.”
